FIXTURES TO TARGET

FPL has finally launched and it’s that time again to make your first team for the upcoming season. Whether you play the game using stats or solely through the eye test, fixtures are always important and this season is no different. In this article, we’ll have a look at the 5 teams that have the best fixtures to start the season. For the purpose of this, we’ll be looking at GW1-6 as most people will be either using their first wildcard at that point or will be making enough transfers to change their team significantly.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST:

  • Forest have one of the best starts to the season of any teams as they play two promoted teams in the first six gameweeks. Despite playing Arsenal in gameweek 4, which is obviously one of the tougher fixtures, the other five games look tasty for their attackers. Players to consider: Wood, Hudson-Odoi, Aina, Williams.

ASTON VILLA:

  • Unlike Forest, Villa only play one promoted team in their first 6 Gameweeks. However, they don’t play any of the traditional top six teams, with their toughest fixture being Newcastle at home in Gameweek one. Players to consider: Watkins, Rogers and Konsa.

CHELSEA:

  • Chelsea will be looking to start the season strong coming off the back of a huge Club World Cup win over the summer. They also don’t play any of the top six teams with their toughest fixtures in this period being Brentford away and Man United away. Players to consider: Palmer, Colwill, Cucurella and João Pedro.

Spurs:

  • Thomas Frank’s Spurs team have a very kind start to the season with home games against Burnley, Bournemouth and Wolves in their first six. Even though they play Man City in gameweek 2, they have often faired well against them in recent seasons. Players to consider: Udogie, Tel, Kudus and Solanke.

WEST HAM:

  • West Ham had a season to forget last year, finishing in 14th just above Man United. However, Graham Potter will now have a full summer to work with his team which could see improvements given their friendly schedule to start the season. Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Everton are three of West Ham’s first six games of the season. Players to consider: Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Diouf, Kilman, Bowen and Füllkrug.
