Wondering how you fit the 2 most expensive players in FPL into your team? BigManBakar shows you how with his best Haaland and Salah draft! He takes you through all of his selections and why!
My initial goalkeeper choices are Caoimhín Kelleher and Antonin Kinsky. Kelleher, in particular, stands out as an excellent budget-friendly option at just £4.5m. With his move into a side known for maintaining a solid defensive shape, he is well positioned to rack up a steady stream of save points over the course of the campaign.
As for Kinsky, there is growing intrigue surrounding his prospects at Tottenham Hotspur. Several reports indicate that new Spurs manager Thomas Frank is a strong admirer of Kinsky’s talents, and early indications are that Kinsky could be firmly in the mix for the starting goalkeeper role, challenging Vicario for the coveted number one shirt. While the situation remains fluid and much of this is still based on speculation rather than official confirmation, the possibility of Kinsky breaking into the first team makes him one to monitor.
Gabriel, Aaron Wan Bissaka, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi and Micky Van De Ven are my chosen defenders.
At £6m, Gabriel is tremendous value for the points he can deliver. You’re getting an Arsenal centre-back who’s nailed on, likely to keep clean sheets, and carries a constant goal threat – all for £6.0m. That’s a gift in FPL terms. Konsa, Wan Bissaka, Guehi, and Van de Ven all come in as value enablers, each set to play key roles for their teams.
Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Ismaila Sarr, Iliman Ndiaye and Marcus Tavernier form the midfield.
Leaving out someone of Salah’s reputation and reliability is no easy call. He’s a top captaincy candidate most weeks, so with his huge ownership, not having him could be a costly gamble. Given Salah’s expected high ownership, the main way to truly gain an edge from Liverpool’s attack is by considering a double-up with Wirtz. Based on the information available, Wirtz currently stands out as the second-best Liverpool attacking asset behind Salah. His ability to play in multiple roles across the frontline, combined with the significant investment Liverpool have made to sign him, suggests he should be a nailed-on starter.
There are some question marks around Sarr and Ndiaye right now, but they seem to be reasonable picks with the current information available. Their potential for attacking returns and their relatively affordable price tags make them appealing value picks for managers looking to balance their budgets without sacrificing upside. Turning to Tavernier, he represents an even riskier proposition compared to Sarr and Ndiaye, mainly due to uncertainties around his fitness and his place in the Bournemouth starting eleven. That said, Tavernier ended the previous season in excellent form, so if he is able to secure consistent game time, Tavernier could provide significant value and emerge as a shrewd differential for those willing to take a calculated risk.
Erling Haaland, Dominic Solanke and Ashley Barnes complete the squad. When you’re looking at the premium forwards bracket, Haaland is the default pick.
I’m particularly intrigued by Solanke at his current price point, especially with a new manager now at the helm. Given how Wissa flourished under Thomas Frank, there’s a strong possibility Solanke could similarly benefit this season. He looks nailed on to play the majority of minutes for his team and could even be on penalty duties, further boosting his appeal. On top of that, his opening fixtures are extremely favourable, which only adds to his attractiveness as a pick. As for Ashley Barnes, he fills the role of budget bench fodder. He’s unlikely to be a regular in the starting XI, but having a budget-friendly option like him allows you to allocate more funds to strengthen your key starters in other, more important positions.
