Chelsea Team News:

  • Palmer’s groin injury appears not to be as serious as first thought after a scan. However Maresca has confirmed that he is out for GW3 and will return after the international break. Maresca speaking on Friday revealed “Cole (Palmer)  is out… We need to see day by day (with Palmer).”
  • Tosin has returned to team training after missing out in GW1 and then started in GW2 after Maresca stated that he was his favourite choice to replace Colwill and replicate the skill set he wants for his LCB. Acheampong impressed in GW1 and is more talented than the older Tosin, and Chelsea kept a clean sheet against a good Palace team. However Maresca prefers Tosin and his skillset as his Colwill replacement.
  • Jackson has returned from his ban, but with his Chelsea career reportedly over and on the verge of leaving the club, and Joao Pedro and Delap both started against West Ham last Friday in a 5-1 win. He is still set to leave the club this summer.
  • Estevao started and registered an assist against West Ham in GW2 after impressing off the bench in GW1. It is safe to assume he and Neto will start on the wings once again although Gittens is a factor.
  • Reece James cannot and does not play more than 1 game a week. That is why he did not start last week with only 6 days between Chelsea’s GW1 and GW2 games. He should be ready to start against Fulham in GW3.
  • Maresca confirmed Lavia and Badiashille will return after the international break.

Fulham Team News:

  • Harry Wilson suffered a foot injury midweek in the EFL Cup 2nd round. It’s an injury to the same foot that kept him out for a long stretch last season which is a concern and it is likely to keep him out until at least after the international break.
  • Sessegnon and Robinson returned to the match-day squad in GW2 against Man United, with Sessegnon fit enough to start and Robinson making an appearance off the bench and picking up where he left off last season delivering the key assist to Smith-Rowe to equalise.
  • Robinson will start in GW3 at left-back.
  • Sessegnon should take Harry Wilson’s spot at RW, a role he played for a stretch last season where he scored 3 goals in 4 games towards the back end of last season. Sessegnon was subbed off in the 64th minute on Wednesday in Fulham’s EFL Cup tie, likely in order to save his legs for Chelsea this weekend.
  • Young Josh King started in the number 10 role ahead of Pereira and Smith-Rowe in GW1 and GW2 and played fairly well. He is clearly a young player Silva believes in prefers in that role ahead of  Smith-Rowe and Pereira as things stand. A £4.5m Midfielder in FPL starting in an attacking role will certainly have people talking.
  • Despite his goal last week, I believe King retains his spot in the 10 role and Sessegnon is more suited to replacing Wilson at RW.
  • Muniz has simply been too impressive and productive in small samples, last season and in GW1 where he calmly took the last minute equalising goal fantastically well. He then did start in GW2 against United. He looks to be Fulham’s starting striker moving forward.
