Promoted Teams

All three newly promoted clubs; Southampton, Leicester, and Ipswich were relegated from the PL after just one season. This was only the first time this had happened in Premier League history and for our newly promoted Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland.

Both Leeds and Burnley ended up with 100 points, and Leeds led it due to the goal difference. Sunderland was 4th in Championship with 76 points and Promoted via Play-offs.

Leeds United:

They scored 95 goals (2.07 per game) and xG: 89.1. Daniel Farke’s preferred style of play is possession-based with a focus on attacking, and quick transitions, and utilizes a 4-2-3-1 formation

Penalty Takers: Struijk (DEF!) – Piroe (FWD)

Joël Piroe (FWD):

  • 19 Championship goals and 7 assists in 2024–25—won the Golden Boot as Leeds’ top scorer averaging 0.56 goal per 90 min and 0.76 G or A per 90 min.
  • He may additionally take some penalties. He is going to be a good pick from this attacking team when fixtures improve. He is going to be on my radar during the first 3 weeks.

Daniel James (MID):

  • Last season, he delivered 12 goals and 9 assists, earning Leeds’ Player of the Year; averaging 0.72 G or A per 90 min. I think he may be your 5th mid if he is priced $5.5m.

Leeds Defenders (DEF):

  • I don’t fancy Leeds backline, but if Firpo re signs for Leeds, his attacking threat could provide value in FPL.
  • He has not reached an agreement on a contract extension yet so Struijk or Bogle the RB will be the safer options.
  • Struijk has a chance to take penalties. He scored 2 out of 3 penalties last season.

Burnley:

Conceded only 16 goals in 46 games – best in English league history (~0.35 per game) and 30 clean sheets. Burnley leaned heavily on their defence. Under Scott Parker, they conceded only 15 goals over 44 games. Unfortunately, their opening fixtures aren’t easy enough to get clean sheets but we will get them when they improve. We can start with a 4.0m starting BUR defender as our 5th defender till fixtures improve.
Walker their new signing from Man City is going to be such a good pick if he is priced £4.5m, too.

Brownhill (MID):

  • I believe he is going to popular if his price is £5.0m as he takes set pieces and has registered 18 goals and 24 Goals and Assists as 2nd top player for goal involvements in the Championship. I am not enticed by Burnley attackers; therefore, he is going to be my only pick for now.

Sunderland:

They weren’t impressive enough last season, but they won the play-offs and were promoted to the Premier League and into our favourite game (FPL). Their opening fixtures are good to be honest, but I will be cautious with selecting Sunderland players until they adapt to the Premier league.

Wilson Isidor (FWD):

  • He is their main forward and scored 12 Goals. He had 15.2 xG – Only Piroe has more xG than him last season.
  • He shares penalties with Roberts (MID) and we should monitor him during the preseason.

Adingra (MID):

  • He has recently joined them and should be nailed to start. We should monitor him during the friendlies as I believe he is going to be one of the best budget picks in midfield.
