Sam FPL’s GW2 Key FPL Questions

Sam FPL is here to answer the key FPL questions ahead of the GW2 Friday deadline. What to do with Konsa, Wirtz & Bowen? Should managers transfer out Joao Pedro for Wood? And finally, buy or avoid Ekitike and Richarlison?

Sam FPL’s GW2 Key FPL Questions

Every Gameweek, there are new key FPL questions that managers have to answer, and especially in the early weeks of a new season. There are still transfers happening like Ornstein’s Eze to Arsenal bomba last night, injuries, reassessing fixture difficulty and things we assumed incorrectly in pre-season that must be addressed! So here is Sam FPL to do just that and help you through all of the key FPL questions heading into GW2.

What to do with?

Konsa:

Aston Villa kept a clean sheet against Newcastle last GW but Konsa was sent off and ended up with only 3 points and a suspension in GW2 vs BRE(A). He isn’t a sell either, he can be kept on bench. AVL has one of the best schedules in the competition and they should get more clean sheets going forward. There are 2 promoted sides and 3 home in counters in next 5 for Konsa’s mates.

Wirtz:

Despite blanking in  a 4 goal win last Friday, I don’t consider Wirtz as un urgent sell. Most attacks move through him, he was a bit advanced and when Ekitike was subbed he played as one of two false 9’s. He has multiple routes into points by taking a lot of set pieces and DC as he recorded 9 Defensive Contributions vs Bournemouth. Personally, I’ll give him another chance vs NEW this Gameweek.

Bowen:

He was big disappointment for his owners in GW1 against the newly promoted SUN and many managers considered captaining him! Unfortunately, he delivered just 2 points and has been sold by around 300k managers so far. By looking at WHU fixtures, They will face CHE, TOT and NFO in next 3! I don’t think it’s a good chance for him to deliver and if he could score points, it would be limited. I think he is going to be a low ceiling pick and a sell.

Transfer: Will I sell J. Pedro to Wood?

Wood delivered on his opening game and looked clinical, with proper positions, and found space between the lines. He recorded 2 Shots inside the box with 100% conversion rate  Meanwhile, Pedro was disappointing with only 2 points, quiet, with limited minutes (70), and had only 2 small chances.

Wood may be a better pick than Pedro this season but for GW2 I won’t make the move.

Wood is going to face the tricky CRY while Pedro has a trip to West Ham, the side that conceded 3 goals to Sunderland last week. I won’t sell Pedro before WHU, honestly.

Buy or Avoid?

Ekitike:

Ekitike’s debut in the Premier League couldn’t have gone much better as he scored, assisted, and created chances. Slot liked him as he added vital linking play and pressing intensity, helping Liverpool maintain tempo and creating space for teammates. The only concern about him is Isak news. If Isak joined The Reds, it will affect his minutes a lot. With Liverpool facing Newcastle and Arsenal in next 2, I’d recommend no rush for him till summer window closes on 1 September.

Richarlison:

Richarlison delivered a stunning performance, scoring twice to inspire Tottenham’s 3–0 win over Burnley. Thomas Frank hailed him as “exceptional,” stressing the importance of managing the Brazilian smartly to maintain such performances. He was really sharp, with amazing positions, and it should have been a hattrick for his name.

My concern is Solanke. I think he is the Spurs starting striker pick under Frank and will eat Richarlison’s minutes so waiting for extra information will be recommended, especially with Spurs facing City next weekend.
